Coastal plains are narrow strips located between coastal mountains and the sea. They are widest along the Gulf of Cádiz, where the coastal plain adjoins the Andalusian plain, and along the southern and mid-eastern coasts. The narrowest coastal plain runs along the Bay of Biscay, where the Cordillera Cantábrica ends near the coast.
