These massive oil and gas platforms are among the biggest man - made objects. They have been moved many kilometers across the sea and sunk down to incredible depths. They are made of reinforced concrete, built in massive mobile and floodable construction sites, then tugged into their final resting place. The Troll A is the world’s tallest structure and the Gullfaks C is the heaviest object ever moved. They were the first in a long line of massive oil platforms built over the last two decades that use gravity and suction to remain upright in the stormiest of seas. But it was the Hebron project – whose 65,000 tonne topside was the biggest ever moved when it was towed from Korea to Canada – that broke heavy lift records when the whole whopping 750,000 tonne megalith was finally manoeuvred into position
