The is a two-row mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by German automaker Group since 2002 at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant. The vehicle was named after the nomadic Tuareg people, inhabitants of the Saharan interior in North Africa. As of October 2020, the #Touareg was developed together with the Audi Q8, the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus, sharing platforms and much technology. The vehicles were developed as unibody SUVs with independent suspension. The third generation Touareg (CR) was revealed on March 23, 2018. It emphasizes fuel efficiency. VW has discontinued the Touareg for sale in North America from the 2017 model year onward, based on sales, and on the availability of the larger and less expensive Atlas (Teramont elsewhere) model which was specifically designed for the United States. The vehicle is larger and uses the Volkswagen Group MLB platform shared with the corporate siblings, the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
