Manual Transmission Operation
Weber State University (WSU) - Automotive Technology Department - Transmission Lab. This video demonstrates the operation of a typical manual transmission. The information here applies to most manual transmissions and transaxles. This particular transmission is a 1992 Toyota Truck 5-speed Aisin R150 model. A version of this same transmission is used in new vehicles today.
This video helps demonstrate part of the following NATEF Tasks:
A3.C.3 "Diagnose noise concerns through the application of transmission/transaxle powerflow principles.", a priority 2 task.
A3.C.4 "Diagnose hard shifting and jumping out of gear concerns; determine necessary action.", a priority 2 task.

I apologize for the coughing during the video. I am not a smoker, I am not sick, I just took a drink of water before shooting the video and got some water down the wrong pipe. I was just trying to shoot a video for my students.
