Ingredients:
1 kg (2 lb.) beef with bones
2 cups chana dal washed and soaked for 4 hours, then boils it
3 medium sized onions cut in slices
2 medium sized tomatoes chopped
4 green chilies
1 ½ tablespoon red chili powder
1 ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
2 teaspoon salt or as your taste
1 ½ tablespoon garlic paste
1 ½ tablespoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 ½ inch of piece cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)
2 dried bay leaves (tez patta)
1/2 cup cooking oil
Ingredients for tarka or baghar:
1/2 cup ghee or oil
1 small onion cut in slices
10 to 12 curry leaves
8 dried small red chilies
2 pinch asafetida (hing) powder
